Christmas Trees

Craig Francis is chairing this major fundraiser for our club.  Craig reports that the fences will be placed November 19 at noon and unload trees on Nov 23rd at 10AM and selling will begin 24th at noon. Thank you to Jeff McCunn and Wells Fargo for providing electricity and thank you in advance to all members for responding to signups and the inevitable calls for help! Ginny Yates Jones organized pre orders on 10 to 12 foot trees and a few larger tress will be available along with 6,7,8ft  and wreaths. We are waiting to hear from Raley’s about providing a coupon that Rotary can give to those who buy a tree.

Summary of meetings

Bruce Simonian, with the members help, has arranged for outstanding speakers for our morning meetings. Some highlights have included a visit from district Governor, Alan Cain who presented   Wend Schaefer with the ‘Transformer ‘award this year for his steady leadership and work with the Valley Eye Clinic. We also learned about the boat safety, Cable TV, Incline golfing, the state of economy with  Craig Francis, stem cell progress and more.  Please give names of interesting speakers to Bruce as there are still openings in 2012.

Membership/ Makeups

This last year we added 11 new members and as always, Tahoe Incline is on the lookout for new quality members. The PDF file of a new member proposal form is on our Tahoe Incline website, www.tahoeinclinerotary.org.  After a proposed member has attended at least three meetings, please complete this form and turn it in to Ginny Yates Jones.

Members can make up any missed meeting within two weeks before or after a miss.  You can do a makeup online at

http://www.rotaryeclubone.org. Remember to think of gifts for the auction as you travel to new places and visit other Rotary meetings. You can also visit the noon club any Monday noon at the Parasol Building. Lastly, thanks to all those who continue to support our club through weekly attendance.

District/International News

Members welcomed our exchange student, Sine (Thailand) and her host family David and Shahri Masters.

On October 24 World Polio Day was celebrated.  A new video about polio is on TED/polio which gives recent statistics re: progress toward eradication and locations of cases.

November is Rotary Foundation month and it is time to consider the Rotary Foundations giving levels.  Many of our members are already Paul Harris fellows, but there are also other levels that will be explained in December by our Foundation Chair, Jim O’Brien.

Maureen will report on her efforts in the next newsletter to be published in Jan 2012.
