Meeting on March 12

What a great meeting.  We entertained 18 Wounded Warriors who were skiing at Alpine Meadows and staying at the Hyatt.  It was inspirational to see them all.                Our presentation was from the Friends of Nevada Wilderness.  They gave a great slide show of photos of Nevada.  Bruce McNulty encouraged us all to join this organization and many of us did. Their goal is to conserve Nevada’s last wild places, so future generations can taste the clear water, breathe the fresh air, and experience the beauty, solitude and adventure we have inherited from the past. .

Meeting on March 19

We met at 4:00 at the Parasol building for the area wide speech and music contests. Each of the five clubs in our area of Incline, Tahoe City and Truckee sent their winners to this contest.  It was a treat to hear and see these talented students.  The music contest winner, Nicole Tanner (left), from Tahoe City, was especially entertaining.  She played Chopin’s Revolutionary Etude on the piano.  Second place and third place went to sisters Amy and Carly Leininger on trumpet and saxophone respectively.

The speech contest was won by Kaleigh Deardoff (left), who goes to a charter school.  Second place went to Cristina Silva from Truckee and third place was Torry Cook from Incline.

Our club and the noon Rotary club in Incline were joint hosts of these contests, and kudus to Thalia Routsis for an outstanding job of organization.

Membership

Several of our members have requested a leave of absence for financial reasons.  We hope that our country’s financial crisis gets resolved and they will be back soon.  Meanwhile, the board would like to see the membership increase, so be on the lookout for new quality members.

Sponsoring a New Member

The PDF file of a new member proposal form is on our Tahoe Incline website, www.tahoeinclinerotary.org.  After a proposed member has attended at least three meetings, please complete this form and turn it in to John Paganelli.
