Fireside on May 15

In case you missed our Fireside at the Thunderbird Lodge, you missed a grand affair.  Thanks to Sandra Richards for organizing this fine event.  The Bonanza ran an excellent story about it at http://www.tahoebonanza.com/article/20080521/COMMUNITY/707636779

Check out the article and look at all of the fine photos.  Many other photos were taken by Michele Norris and Loanne Kuller, which have previously been sent to everyone in the club.

Meeting May 22

Bob was back at the podium and accepted lots of gifts for our auction from traveling Rotarians.  The most impressive gift was a gigantic bottle of tequila from Mike Menath, who was in Southern California celebrating the college graduation of one son and the marriage of another.

Jim Ellis was taking sign-ups to sell duckies on July 3 at the Red White and Tahoe Blue event. Each year will have different duckies which will soon become collector’s items, so be sure to buy some.

Our speaker was Brian Kulpin from the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority.  He gave us an update on all the changes that are currently taking place at the airport and plans for the future. He claimed that our airport is the fifth most important airport in North America, and that 80% of all flights are on time.  If you want to check out the latest construction news, go to www.constructiontruths.com

He informed us is that completion of all changes will be done by November of 2009.

This Week

This week, our speaker will be another lawyer, Deborah Schumacher, who is a family court judge and is running for the State Supreme Court. We have been dark a lot lately, so it will be nice to see everyone again.
